Who will only fly for freedom?

O dia é 13 de abril de 2011 e estamos no meio de um show do U2 no estádio do Morumbi, São Paulo. 360ºTour. Uma das maiores bandas do planeta viaja suas melodias e letras entre protestos de paz e pedidos de amor, alguns declarados, outros sutis, em frente a uma multidão em êxtase. Indescritível.

Coreografias, cenários, textos, imagens, fazem você sentir e realmente acreditar na possibilidade de um mundo e pessoas melhores, mais unidas e justas.

Numa das suas músicas – Walk On – a banda faz referência à ativista de Myanmar Aung San Suu Kyi, a terceira dos filhos de Aung San, herói do país e um dos líderes na proclamação de sua independência, assassinado em 1948.

Ausente de Myanmar (na época chamada Birmânia), retorna em 1988 para cuidar da mãe. Durante a eleição geral de 1990, a LND, partido liderado por Suu Kyi, obteve 59% dos votos em todo o país, conquistando 81% dos assentos no parlamento - o que deveria fazer dela a primeira-ministra da Birmânia. No entanto, pouco antes das eleições, ela foi detida e colocada em prisão domiciliar, condição em que viveu por quase 15 anos.

Alguns meses antes deste show, Suu Kyi foi libertada pela Anistia Internacional. Em 1° de abrilde 2012, foi eleitadeputada pela Liga Nacional pela Democracia.

A música havia sido escrita 10 anos antes.
